LUCA BURINI pianist and orchestra conductor, was born in Perugia (Italy) in 1960.
He began to study the Piano at the age of six and the Organ when he was eleven. After receiving his Diploma from the Music State Conservatory Francesco Morlacchi in Perugia, in 1979, he study at the Internationale Akademie Mozarteum in Salisburgo with C. Zecchi and then in Rome with G. Diamanti and E. De Rosa.
He also studied Composition with R. Vlad and G. Martellini while at the same time following courses in Philosophy and Literature at Perugia State University.
He has been Music Assistant with prestigious Conductors such Gerd Albrecht, Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Klaus Tennstedt, Riccardo Muti e George Prêtre.
He has held teaching posts at the Music State Conservatory Gioacchino Rossini of Pesaro, Francesco Morlacchi of Perugia and Luigi Cherubini of Florence; in the United States he has held master-class at Arizona State University.
He holds the Chair for Choir Conducting and Choral Repertoire and the Chair for Piano in the university Courses at Giuseppe Verdi Music State Conservatory in Milan.
A noteworthy distinction is his appointment as Music Assistant and Maestro Sostituto at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, after winning an ad hoc competition. At La Scala he also performed as piano soloist as well as playing harpsichord in the Orchestra.
He has recorded for VATICAN RADIO, Italian RadioTelevision ( RAI ), K.T.V. ( Greece ), C.B.C. Broadcasting Corporation and given concerts in Mexico, France, Argentina, Egypt, USA, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Tunisia, Morocco, Malta, Great Britain, Canada.
Since 1989, Luca Burini has been officially sponsored by the Italian Government to represent Italian music through Concerts Tours abroad.
He has just recorded the CD “Music for Heroes” (Beethoven, Saint-Saens, Brenta, Hornemann, Edgar and Glière) as Guest Conductor at the HRTV, Jugoslavian National Radio-Television Symphonic Orchestra.
